This extension opens a tab that can't be closed without your permission. This prevents you from accidentally closing a multi-tab browsing session. !!! NEW FEATURE - THEMES !!! May 20, 2023 update was an update of internal manifest file which accidentally broke the extension (SORRY). Minor changes in rev 7 for compatibility with manifest v3. NOTE: Chrome Close Lock protection is no longer automatically activated. Newer versions of Chrome now require you to interact with the page to activate the code that makes Chrome Close Lock work. We added the enable button for this purpose. We are actively working to make it fully automatic again.

The latest version of Chrome Close Lock is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 10,000 active users. The initial version was launched on 2018-01-20.

HOW TO INSTALL Chrome Close Lock FROM A CRX FILE

1. Download Chrome Close Lock CRX file
2. NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to download the ZIP file instead
3. In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
4. Enable Developer mode
