The project was created by Health-IT enthusiasts during NHS Hack 2020 in Cardiff and is fully open source.

The latest version of WHAT - Websites for Health Assessment Tool is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 101 active users. The initial version was launched on 2020-03-27.
