SUMMARY

A simple chrome extension that makes it faster to search text using the Brave search engine.

I built this extension because it's time consuming to open a new tab, go to search.brave.com and then type or paste the text I'm searching. That's why I built this extension, to save time.

How to use:
Select any text and then right-click on the selection. You'll see the "Search with Brave" option in the context menu, which when clicked, opens Brave search results in a new tab.

Why to use:
Brave claims their search engine is built on top of an independent index, and doesn't track users, their searches, or their clicks.

The latest version of Brave Search is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 2,000 active users. The initial version was launched on 2022-02-09.

HOW TO INSTALL Brave Search FROM A CRX FILE

1. Download Brave Search CRX file
2. NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to download the ZIP file instead
3. In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
4. Enable Developer mode
